Due Diligence Trips

Three CUA students — Anthony Buatti, Victoria Engelstad, and Jonathon Meyer — along with CUA administrators, William Jonas and Emmjolee Mendoza, accompanied Opus Prize Foundation representatives on due diligence visits.  The purpose of the visits is to confirm the recommendations of the Opus Jury.

History Major

Anthony traveled to Tanzania and met with Brother Stan Goetschalckx  who works tirelessly to teach, mentor, and protect thousands of the most rejected and forgotten people of Africa—refugees forced to flee their homes to escape ethnic wars and rebel aggression .


        

 

Tori EngelstadVictoria “Tori” Engelstad

Class of 2008

Architecture Major

Tori traveled to the Philippines and met with Rev. Norberto Carcellar who leads Homeless People's Federation Philippines, an organization working to provide homes and to empower thousands of impoverished and marginalized squatters living in garbage dumps .


         

 

Jonathon MoyerJonathon Meyer

Class of 2008

Biochemistry Major

Jon stayed closer to home and visited Washington, D.C.-based Father John Adams. Father Adams is president of SOME (So Others Might Eat), an interfaith non-profit organization providing food, shelter, health care and training to homeless and less fortunate individuals and families.
